First to register, last to perform.

1)     When a class has begun on stage, registration for the next class is ended. Contestants must be ready to perform when called.

2)    Fiddle classes will be allowed one accompanist only. Dancers will be allowed one fiddler and one Accompanist only.

3)    Fiddlers will be judged on time, tone, technique and overall accuracy. Dancers will be judged on variety and quality of steps, timing and choreography (overall performance).

4)    A Novice Dancer or Fiddler is one who has competed no more than 3 years and has never placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

5)    All Novice Dancers will dance a reel only. All Novice Fiddlers have the choice to play either a waltz, a jig or a reel.

6)    Contestants in the 19-49 and 50&Over stepdancing classes will dance either a clog, a jig or a reel.

7)    The Twin Fiddle Class must play two contrasting tunes of their choice.

8)    Group dance classes dance a routine of their choice, not necessarily a clog, jig, and reel.  It must not exceed 5 minutes. A Group consists of 2 to 5 members.

Group dance categories are decided by averaging the age of the members. If the average age of the group is under 13 then it is considered a Junior Group. If the average age of the group is greater than or equal to 13 then it is considered a Senior Group.

11) The 8&Under fiddle category will play a tune of their choice.

12)   Score sheets will be distributed during the contest.

13)  All house plaques will remain with the committee.

14)  Fiddle Dance (New! in 2011)

Each contestant must play two contrasting tunes on

the fiddle, in no particular order, while step dancing

simultaneously.  One of the tunes must be a reel

(minimum 64 bars).  Examples of the other tune

styles include jig, clog, two-step, or waltz-clog etc.

There must be no stopping in between tunes.

Fiddling while simultaneously dancing must be

continuous throughout the performance, ie. no

breaks.  One exception is for the intro to the first

tune which can optionally be solo fiddle or solo step

or a combination of both.   One non-fiddle

accompanist is allowed.  Contestants will be judged

on their fiddling and stepdancing simultaneously

(with equal weighting to both fiddling and dancing).

In addition to the standard fiddle and stepdance

judging criteria, contestants will also be judged on

            creativity and expressiveness.

A wireless fiddle mic will be provided to the

contestant at the stage. The contestant will be

required to put on a belt equiped with belt pack

            provided at the stage.

All judges decisions are final.
